COVID-19 Office Updates

COVID-19 Update

To promote wellness and safety, we are resuming our normal business hours and routine care on

May 18, 2020 with the following implemented new policies for both staff and patients at our office.

SANITIZING

Patients and physicians are required to wash their hands before and after an exam. If a patient would like to wear gloves brought from home, we ask that a new pair of gloves be worn upon entering the office to avoid any outside contaminants.

Staff will sanitize every staff and patient contact area before and after each patient. This includes, but is not limited to: applicable chairs, door handles, pens, clipboards, desk surfaces, faucet handles, eyeglass frames, credit card scanners, screening tools, and exam testing equipment.

To avoid contamination of other items, any item touched by a patient should be immediately given to a staff member for sanitization when finished with use.

MASKS

We ask that you come to your appointment wearing a mask. All staff and patients 3 years old and up will be required to wear masks in the office to reduce droplet emission in the office. If you do not have a mask, our office has some available for purchase.

Despite the temporary discomfort, we encourage the use of masks to protect each other, not ourselves. Our staff, patients and their families appreciate your thoughtfulness and cooperation.

SOCIAL DISTANCING

Upon arrival, please call us from your vehicle at 225-570-2753 to allow us to greet you at the door. Our staff is going old-fashioned and will be opening doors for you at all contact points, no tips required. No more waiting…inside our office!

All intake information will be kindly taken over the phone. You can choose to do this from home or your vehicle any time within 1 week before your appointment. You can go to www.optimalvisioncare.com to fill out forms before your appointment.

Only one patient will be allowed in a single office area at a time, with the exception of a single accompanying parent or guardian for minors or a necessary caregiver. Our attention is solely for you. Staff will be reminded to keep a distance of 6 feet between one another.

SCREENING

Our office is dedicated to screening both our staff and patients for COVID-19 related risk factors to maximize health and safety in our service to you. If any of the following apply to staff or patient, they will be asked to reschedule their time at the office to a later date:

· Had known exposure to COVID-19 and/or traveled from a known hot spot in the past 14 days.

· Has coughing, fever, sore throat, shortness of breath or other COVID-19 related symptoms.

· Office curbside screening: Temperature is 100°F or greater.

If you are unsure if any of the above apply to you, or you are unsure on how to proceed, our staff will be happy to provide you with recommended next steps, timetables for rescheduling, and resources.

TELEHEALTH

Whenever possible, examinations via telehealth will be performed.

· Telehealth services are currently available via Skype and Facetime.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
